The UK Government’s Equality Bill, includes a new socio-economic inequality duty on public bodies which has important implications for anti-poverty policy in Scotland. This briefing explains what the new socio-economic duty is, how it affects Scotland, who it applies to and how it would be monitored and enforced. It also outlines some key weaknesses in the duty and suggests ways in which it could be strengthened. |
