Child poverty and Debt: doing public debt recovery differently
9 October @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm
Low-income families in Scotland are facing a debt crisis. Evidence shows the overwhelming majority of this is debt to public bodies. Public debt, including council tax payments, rent arrears, and school meal debt, traps families in poverty. Aberlour believes public debt reform is vital to tackling child poverty.
Join Aberlour and partners at our Challenge Poverty Week event to hear from Aberlour’s Tayside Family Financial Wellbeing Pilot about the collaborative approach with our 3 partner local authorities – Angus, Dundee and Perth & Kinross – to doing debt recovery differently to support struggling families and tackle child poverty.
You will also hear from the Cabinet Secretary for Finance and Local Government, Shona Robison MSP, along with Jim McCormick, CEO, The Robertson Trust and Myles Fitt, Head of Financial Wellbeing at Citizens Advice Scotland.
Invitation only.
