People in Scotland want a just and compassionate society.

The Poverty Alliance – Scotland’s national anti-poverty network - is building a broad coalition to show that we already have practical ideas to overcome injustice, AND the resources we need to make them work. We are building towards a national march and demonstration for justice, to be held in Edinburgh on Saturday 25 October 2025. We hope to see thousands on the streets of the capital - and showing support from home and in their own communities.

Because despite some welcome commitments from our political leaders – progress around social, economic and environmental justice is just too slow. And in many areas, things are actually going backwards. Too many people don’t have the stable foundation they need to build a better life for themselves and their households, and a better future for our country.

The resulting injustice is clear to see in our communities. Rising hunger and destitution. Increasing debt and insecure work. Wages that don’t cover life’s essentials. Seemingly never-ending cuts to the vital health and public services that we ALL rely on – but that are an essential support for people looking to build a life out of poverty. Our children being denied their rights to thrive, prosper, be safe and protected, and develop their talents to the fullest.

It simply doesn’t have to be like this. Now is the time to tell our political leaders that Scotland Demands Better.

Over the coming months members of the Scotland Demands Better coalition will be delivering a range of activities to build awareness and support for the campaign. Whether you are a member of a trade union, active in a local community group, campaigning on climate change, or a member of a faith group - now is the time to get involved.

Join the campaign for a just and compassionate Scotland. Join us to build a better future. Join us to say Scotland Demands Better.
