Statement on racist violence

We can only end the injustice of poverty when people work together.

Our thoughts are with the Muslim communities and people of colour affected by the shocking racist violence we have seen during the last week. It cannot be right that these communities are living in fear of violence and intimidation.

These riots do not represent our country’s values. We are a country that believes in justice and compassion. It has been positive to see examples of communities putting those values into action in response to this violence – coming together to repair damage and support their neighbours.
We strongly condemn these racist attacks. We stand against all forms of racism and injustice and offer our solidarity to those impacted.
