
David Eyre
Communications Officer
David started his media career in 1995, as a junior reporter covering the valley communities outside Huddersfield. He was a Senior Broadcast Journalist with the BBC, and the founder and Managing Editor of Southside Media. He became a communications specialist in 2012, carrying out work for Oxfam Scotland, Stop Climate Chaos Scotland, the Existing Homes Alliance, Unite Scotland and others, before joining the Poverty Alliance team in 2022.
David is a member of the National Union of Journalists and the Chartered Institute for Public Relations, as well as serving as an adviser to the Common Cause Foundation’s Values in the Media project.
Outside of work, David likes swimming, watching football, language learning, and writing. He has had two books published in Scottish Gaelic. He was Poet in Residence at the 2018 StAnza Poetry Festival, with support from The Edwin Morgan Trust, and was the winner of the Wigtown Gaelic Poetry Prize in 2019.
